flower faith

We are stepping out in faith this year.  By faith, we are believing God for big things in our lives and the lives of those we influence.  We are not afraid of what the future holds, because we know who holds the future.

God calls us in our lives as believers to trust.  Our faith is developed and stretched when we take bigger steps.

This year, God is calling us to reach more people for Him.  We blogged as a team at iwokeupyesterday.com for over three years.  What a joy to grow and see how God used our stories to bring hope and healing to the lives of so many people.  We are honored and humbled that He calls us and even more that He uses us in His work to reach the lost and grow disciples.

By Faith, Hebrews 11

11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible……

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. 11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

I love this faith chapter.  When I read it, I am inspired to step into the unknown and lean into the One who already made a way for my next steps.  God ordains our steps.  He knew the path each of our lives would take before we were born.

This promise gives me great assurance and hope:

Psalm 139:14-16

You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.

Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.

Letting go of the old and stepping into the new is risky, exciting and rewarding.  Closing a chapter at our old blog and starting this new blog is a process.  We believe that He will equip us and guide us as we move forward, every step of the way.

What new thing will you step into this year?  By faith, what can you ask God to help you move into for 2015?

CHALLENGE:

Write out a statement of faith for 2015.

Read Hebrews 11.  Think of all of the people who got to see their promise from God come true.  Then, consider those who died without seeing their promise come to fruition.  Consider your life and dreams.  Who do you relate to in the passage?  Why?

Look up more Scriptures on Faith.  A great way to do this is to use the keyword search on Bible Gateway.

Will you ask God to help you create a statement of faith, incorporating Scripture and His truth about you.

Find a quiet space and take at least an hour to retreat with God.  Ask Him to reveal to you, through His Spirit what He has in store for you.

Be open and willing to receive what He has prepared in advance to show you.

To develop your Statement of Faith, complete the following:

Pray:

Heavenly Father, by faith, I believe this will be the best year ever.  I trust that you hold my future and that you ordain my steps.  I praise you for your faithfulness.  I ask you to show me where I need to trust you more.  Reveal to me my sin and shortcomings. Forgive me where I fall short.  Teach me your ways.  Give me your grace and love for others and for myself.

Lord, I praise you that you have equipped me to: _____________________________________________________________________________.

I am letting go of:

_____________________________________________________________________________.

(example: fear, insecurity, rejection, loneliness, disapointment, anger, resentment)

I will believe and receive your promise that:

_____________________________________________________________________________.

(find a Scripture to use here)

Pray:

Thank you for how you love me and promise to always be with me, wherever I go.  You will never leave me or forsake me.

Lord, I ask you for strength to prepare me for _____________________________________________________________________________.

Pray:

You are the hope-giver and Redeemer.  I love that you promise to complete the good work you have started in my life.  Thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, in your likeness.

Ask:

What characteristic of God do you need more of this year? Ask God to show you.  (Example: Faith, Love, Hope, Grace, Mercy)

Help me Lord to believe that you: ____________________________________________________________________________.

(find a Scripture to use here)   Example:  Help me to believe that you love me!

Pray:

By faith, I surrender my plans and my life to you.  I rest in your great love for me. I cease striving.  I let go of control.  I yield myself to you and your plan for my life.  Use me Lord to be a vessel of your love and grace to those I meet.  Help me be bold for you and to share my story when given an opportunity.  Thank you for using me.

Use me Lord to reach others for your kingdom.

Specifically, I ask that you use me in the life of:

____________________________________________________________________________.

(name at least one person you hope to impact with the love of Jesus: this can be a lost person or a friend or family member, whom you seek to disciple or mentor)

We are so excited to be on this adventure with you and would love to hear from you.

Will you share your statement of faith in the Comments.

Blessings to you today and in this new year!

~Tammy
